Dell Technologies has unveiled two new additions to its all-flash lineup, introducing the Dell PowerScale F210 and F710 nodes. This release marks the arrival of the latest generation of high-performance file storage systems, powered by top-tier PowerEdge servers designed to handle the most demanding workloads. Integrated with the cutting-edge OneFS software, PowerScale stands out as a comprehensive AI-ready data platform, boasting unparalleled performance, scalability, efficiency, federal-grade security, and versatility across multiple cloud environments.
Introducing the Newest All-flash Nodes: PowerScale F210 and F710
As next-gen workloads generate significant data gravity, customers increasingly demand solutions that are not only faster but also more cost-effective. Building upon its established capabilities, which have positioned it as a Magic Quadrant leader for eight consecutive years, PowerScale delivers heightened performance and efficiency with the launch of the F210 and F710. The F210 caters to performance-centric needs with smaller capacity requirements, while the F710 strikes a balance between high performance and substantial capacity, all within a compact 1RU form factor.
Unrivaled Performance
With advancements surpassing the previous generation and refined software enhancements developed over the past year, users can now experience a potential doubling of performance in streaming reads. This enhancement significantly expedites the process of feeding GPUs for model training and fine-tuning. Moreover, users can anticipate up to a twofold increase in performance during the model checkpointing phase of the AI pipeline, further optimizing workflows. Additionally, PowerScale introduces a substantial boost, potentially up to 2.6 times, in high concurrency and latency-sensitive workloads like high-frequency trading (HFT) and electronic design automation (EDA), thanks to recent software and hardware upgrades.
Enhanced Efficiency
Dell has achieved notable progress in optimizing customers’ total cost of ownership. The latest platform integrates a Smart Flow chassis to streamline airflow, directing precise amounts of air where needed to enhance energy efficiency. This continuous innovation enables Dell to deliver up to 90% greater performance per watt within just one year. Building upon the capacity and density of the previous generation nodes, the F710 model accommodates up to ten drives in a 1U configuration, representing a 25% increase in node density compared to the F600. Similarly, Dell enhances storage utilization with the F210 by introducing the 15TB QLC drive, effectively doubling the capacity compared to the F200.
PowerScale: Dell’s Data Platform for AI Excellence
“We take immense pride in our team’s efforts to deliver these PowerScale OneFS software and platform advancements, and we’re eager to witness how customers utilize them to propel AI innovation at a rapid pace. With the expansion of PowerScale’s NVMe all-flash lineup to include GPU direct access, along with embedded features such as non-disruptive scaling, multi-tenant capabilities, universal data access supporting multiple protocols, federal-grade security, and seamless interoperability with various public clouds, the F210 and F710 are revolutionizing high-speed storage solutions. These cutting-edge PowerScale all-flash nodes are poised to unlock the potential of data and accelerate the journey of AI innovation,” remarked Chris Mount, Director of Program Management at Dell Technologies.
