A high-level delegation led by His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), recently visited Microsoft headquarters in Los Angeles, California, USA, to discuss the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) for enhancing workforce productivity and developing smart infrastructure.
Joining HE Al Tayer were DEWA executives including Hussain Lootah, EVP – Transmission Power; Marwan bin Haider, EVP – Innovation and the Future; Waleed bin Salman, EVP – Business Development and Excellence; Loh Lim Huat, Chief Advisor – Generation; Ghanem Al Qassim, Senior Manager – Solar Energy; and Humaid Al Hammadi, Senior Manager – Special Projects.
During the visit, HE Al Tayer met with Microsoft leaders Rajmohan Rajagopalan, General Manager of M365 Copilot and Apps, and Ricardo Villalobos, Principal Director of Industry Software Engineering. The talks focused on leveraging Microsoft AI solutions to empower DEWA’s workforce and to explore AI-driven smart building solutions that align with DEWA’s dedication to digital innovation and sustainable infrastructure.
Earlier this year, DEWA adopted Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Security Copilot, becoming the first UAE government entity to implement these advanced AI tools from Microsoft. This adoption underscores DEWA’s commitment to harnessing innovation and disruptive technologies to enhance productivity and quality, positioning DEWA among the first global utilities to use Microsoft’s Copilot solutions.
The Microsoft team demonstrated Microsoft 365 Copilot’s capabilities in boosting workforce efficiency by automating and enhancing daily operations. Discussions also included AI-enabled smart building solutions aimed at optimizing energy use and supporting sustainable building practices, aligning with DEWA’s mission to drive sustainability and smart city advancements in Dubai.
HE Al Tayer emphasized DEWA’s commitment to cutting-edge technology in achieving its strategic objectives for operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and environmental sustainability.
