du, the UAE’s prominent telecom and digital services provider, has announced a new initiative to recycle lead acid batteries from its operations, in collaboration with Dubatt Battery Recycling. As part of its commitment to environmental stewardship, du is taking significant strides toward achieving net zero emissions, aligning with the UAE’s national sustainability objectives. This initiative highlights du’s dedication to minimizing its environmental footprint and fostering a circular economy by recovering valuable resources.

Adel Al Rais, Head of Corporate Communication at du, stated, “Our sustainability strategy is integral to our commitment to net zero goals, reinforcing our leadership in sustainable practices within the telecom sector. We are proud to incorporate battery recycling as a cornerstone of our sustainability agenda, consistently pushing the boundaries of eco-friendly business practices.”

The battery recycling initiative complements du’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes energy-efficient measures such as solar panel deployment, free-cooling systems, sustainable procurement practices, and waste management. du has also implemented 3M sunscreens, motion sensors, and advanced energy-efficient technologies to further reinforce its commitment to environmental conservation.
