Digital Dubai has taken significant steps to implement a strategic vision for an AI-powered data centre economy, aiming to position the city as a global leader in sustainable data centres and enhance its digital economy. This initiative is part of Dubai’s broader digital strategy, which seeks to increase the digital sector’s contribution to the emirate’s **Dubai Advances AI-Powered Data Centre Strategy** economy by $100 billion.
Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-General of Digital Dubai, highlighted that the UAE’s competitive advantages make it a prime location for sustainable data centres. He stated, “The digital economy in Dubai is an essential pillar of Dubai’s digital strategy, which aims to increase its contribution to the emirate’s overall economy by $100 billion.”
Younus Al Nasser, Chief Executive of the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment, noted that the global shift towards new economic models presents significant opportunities for economies like Dubai’s. He explained, “With the ongoing global transformations, new economic patterns and business models are emerging, presenting future opportunities for dynamic economies like Dubai’s. The data centre economy exemplifies these transformations.”
Hadi Badri, CEO of Dubai Economic Development Corporation, emphasized the importance of visionary leadership in this initiative. He said, “The transformative strategy to establish an AI-powered data centre economy is a testament to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, enabling the city to remain at the forefront of the rapidly evolving global digital economy.”
The next phase will involve efforts to enhance integration among stakeholders in the data centre economy. Digital Dubai is currently working on increasing cloud computing adoption in the government sector, aligning with the goals of the D33 Agenda to future-proof Dubai for the next generation of technologies.
