The Dubai Police General Command has announced the integration of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) systems across 29 administrative operations in various departments, marking a significant step towards modernizing its police and security operations.
Aligning with Visionary Leadership and Strategic Plans
This initiative is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council. It aims to optimize both employee and customer experiences, while reinforcing Dubai’s robust security framework. The project leverages the annual ‘Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence’, which outlines strategies and programs designed to boost Dubai’s economic competitiveness, resilience, quality of life, and future readiness.
Key AI-Driven Enhancements
Major General Khalid Nasser Alrazooqi, Director of the General Department of Artificial Intelligence at Dubai Police, highlighted the ongoing efforts to integrate AI into police operations.
“This initiative enhances community safety, prevents crime, and improves customer satisfaction, thereby reinforcing trust in the police force and elevating Dubai’s security index,” said Alrazooqi.
Innovations in Traffic Management and Vehicle History
– Smart Planning for Minor Traffic Accidents: Dubai Police is developing an AI-driven mechanism to streamline the management of minor traffic accidents. This system will automatically analyze accidents and generate reports for drivers, reducing the steps needed to obtain a “Minor Accident” report from seven to four.
– Vehicle History Records: AI integration into the “Vehicle History Record” system allows prospective car buyers to easily access a vehicle’s accident history and mechanical condition, providing transparency and confidence in purchasing decisions.
Virtual Officer ‘Amna’ and Enhanced Smart App
– Officer Amna: A notable AI application by Dubai Police is “Amna,” a virtual officer that interacts with the public and answers inquiries in both Arabic and English. Accessible via the Dubai Police app, Officer Amna conducted 20,000 conversations with the public in 2023.
– Smart App: The updated Dubai Police smart app, available on iOS, Android, and Huawei platforms, incorporates AI features to enhance user experience. The app, downloaded approximately 7.9 million times, offers 70 services in seven languages and utilizes the latest programming and AI technologies.
Blockchain for Lost Passport Certificates
Dubai Police employs AI and blockchain technology for processing “lost passport certificate” transactions. Since 2021, 66,413 certificates have been issued through this secure service, eliminating the need for physical visits to service centers.
Smart Police Stations (SPS)
The Smart Police Station (SPS) is a cornerstone of Dubai Police’s AI implementation, providing a wide range of services to the public. In early 2024 alone, the SPS has received 127,515 visitors and processed 36,376 transactions, offering 46 services across 25 locations throughout Dubai.
Dubai Police’s integration of AI into its operations marks a transformative approach to policing, aimed at enhancing security, efficiency, and customer satisfaction in line with Dubai’s visionary leadership and strategic goals.
