Intelligent power management company Eaton has launched its latest xEnergy Elite low-voltage motor control and power distribution center, designed for industrial environments like oil and gas and mining, accommodating loads up to 7500 A and 690 VAC. This advanced system prioritizes uptime, safety, and flexibility while offering maintenance cost savings for mission-critical applications.

Compliant with International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards, the xEnergy Elite motor control center (MCC) ensures power reliability and robust protection for both operating and maintenance personnel. It integrates state-of-the-art motor control and protection technologies, surpassing IEC TR 61641 standards for arc flash safety. With fully segregated dropper busbars, optional isolated main busbars, and Eaton’s patented Elite contact system, the MCC minimizes arc flash risks while maximizing operational safety.

The MCC’s Elite contact system enhances safety by allowing unit operation with closed compartment doors. Personnel can switch between disconnect, test, or connected modes using a key. Additionally, Eaton’s Arc Flash Reduction Maintenance System™—installed on the MCC’s air circuit breaker (ACB)—reduces incident energy levels during maintenance, while maintaining full overcurrent protection during normal operation.

Engineered for longevity, the xEnergy Elite MCC’s durable design reduces maintenance needs. Its unique rotating contact technology minimizes contact wear on vertical busbars, maintaining ideal electrical connections even under short-circuit conditions or heavy starting loads.

The system aligns with new efficiency standards, supporting both IE3 Premium Efficiency and IE4 Super Premium Efficiency motor switching, allowing maintenance and expansion without disrupting production. The xEnergy Elite MCC offers a compact footprint with high-density micro-drawer configurations, which optimizes floor space by requiring minimal clearance, saving up to 2 m² per section.

“Motor failure can lead to costly downtime, repairs, and personnel safety risks. The xEnergy Elite’s powerful control and protection are essential for creating a reliable and safe industrial system,” said Qasem Noureddin, Managing Director of Eaton Middle East.
