The Egyptian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Maher Al-Mahdi Al-Sayed hosted the Minister of Information and Communications, Honorable Mohamed Rahman Swaray, at the Egyptian Embassy on Wilkinson Road.

The purpose of the meeting between the two was to discuss the two nations’ flourishing brotherly ties. Sierra Leone and Egypt have had a long-standing friendship that dates back decades. Ambassador Al-Sayed greeted the Minister warmly at his Wilkinson Road office and expressed delight at the opportunity to meet him.

The Ambassador briefed the Minister about Egypt’s training, courses, and other options for Sierra Leoneans, but he also mentioned the influence of Covid-19 on the programmes’ execution. He assured the Minister, however, that once the epidemic fades or is curbed, everything would return to normal.

They discussed telecom’s investment prospects, and the Ambassador introduced two Egyptian investors who intend to invest in the industry. The Minister expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian government for its various contributions to the country and thanked the Ambassador for his warm welcome. His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio is open to real investment in Sierra Leone that benefits both the government and the investors, according to the communications minister.

He added that Sierra Leone is peaceful and open to business. “We are open to genuine investments, that is the vision of the President. We have worked as a government to remove bottlenecks to encourage investments in all sectors that will result in a win-win situation,” the Minister said.

Both parties agreed to continue working in the best interests of their respective peoples at the end of the meeting. The Egyptian Ambassador presented the Minister with a beautiful souvenir “tasbih.”
