Genetec Unveils 2025 Physical Security Trends for META Region

Genetec Inc. (“Genetec”), a global enterprise physical security software company, has unveiled its 2025 State of the Physical Security Report, offering valuable insights into evolving trends in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META) markets. Drawing on responses from over 600 industry professionals, including end users, channel partners, systems integrators, and consultants, the report provides a comprehensive analysis of physical security operations in the region.

The report highlights a growing preference for hybrid cloud models, with 48% of META end users planning to adopt hybrid deployments within the next five years. This marks a significant shift compared to 22% favoring fully cloud-based solutions and 25% opting for on-premises systems. The preference for hybrid cloud is also echoed by 53% of consultants in the region, indicating a cautious yet flexible approach to cloud adoption.

Firas Jadalla, Regional Director for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa at Genetec, emphasized the importance of hybrid solutions in enhancing operational resilience. He stated, “In the META market, where digital transformation and operational resilience are top priorities, the evolving role of physical security is critical. By placing IT at the center of hybrid and cloud implementations, businesses can make security operations more resilient, data-driven, and adaptable to the region’s dynamic threat landscape.”

The report also underscores the growing influence of IT departments in physical security decisions. As organizations increasingly adopt hybrid and cloud solutions, 78% of META end users report collaboration between IT and physical security teams. Additionally, over 50% of systems integrators, consultants, and end users reveal that IT departments now play a key role in purchasing decisions, reflecting the integration of physical and digital security strategies.

AI adoption in physical security is another notable trend, with 46% of end users planning to implement AI-powered features in 2025, a sharp rise from 14% in 2024. Practical applications, such as improved threat detection and automation of routine tasks, are driving this interest, with 49% of respondents focusing on AI as a tool to streamline security operations and enhance efficiency.

The 2025 State of the Physical Security Report highlights the META region’s focus on adaptability, collaboration, and innovation in security operations. With hybrid cloud adoption, IT integration, and AI-powered solutions on the rise, organizations are better equipped to address the challenges of a dynamic security landscape and protect both physical and digital assets effectively.
