Dubai Government Human Resources and SAP collaborate to boost Emirati talent

With a joint effort between the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) and the international technology company SAP, a group of 30 Emirati university graduates has successfully completed a rigorous selection process to enrol in a training programme that will position them for long-term career success in the quick-paced world of cloud computing.

The program will kick off at SAP’s offices in Dubai Internet City, a member of TECOM Group PJSC’s tech-centric ecosystem.

The training initiative was sparked by discussions earlier this year between His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and Christian Klein, SAP’s global CEO.

The importance of developing young Emirati talent was raised at that meeting, which resulted in the launch of the SAP Young Professionals Programme, which is designed specifically for recently graduated Emiratis from a variety of organizations, including the Dubai Health Authority, Roads and Transport Authority, Al-Futtaim Group, Dubai Customs, and Emirates Group.

The intensive two-month training for the Emirati cohort is the 16th iteration of the SAP Young Professionals Programme to take place in the UAE. The DGHR-focused training will include SAP Analytics Cloud and RISE with SAP (SAP S/4HANA Cloud Implementation with SAP Activate), SAP’s enterprise resource planning solution.

SAP’s extensive development plan aims to provide a solid foundation of excellence supported by certification to help them launch their careers. Participants graduate as SAP Associate Consultants, making them immediately employable by SAP customers and partners.

DGHR Director-General Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi welcomed the students and said “In line with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision, DGHR aims to harness the exceptional talent of UAE nationals to learn the new skills that will be required as businesses evolve and digitally transform to leverage modern technologies. As the UAE cements its role as a global technology hub, it is important to have a strong, sustainable skill base that will meet the human capital requirements of Dubai government entities.”

Since its inception in 2012, the SAP Young Professionals Programme has trained over 3,730 top students from 39 countries, including over 230 from the UAE.
