Dubai Internet City Showcases Innovation at London Tech Week

In a bid to highlight its role in fostering global innovation, Dubai Internet City, the Middle East’s premier technology hub for 25 years, will participate in London Tech Week from June 10-14. This event comes as digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) continue to reshape the global business landscape.

Dubai Internet City, a part of TECOM Group PJSC, collaborates with the Dubai Department of Economy & Tourism (DET) to demonstrate the city’s strong pro-innovation framework, contributing to industry growth and development.

Ammar Al Malik, Executive Vice President of Commercial at TECOM Group PJSC, emphasized the importance of empowering global talent to address the world’s most pressing challenges through technology. He highlighted the rapid emergence of startups and enterprises providing solutions across sectors like climate, healthcare, finance, and transport.

Al Malik stated, “Strategic support is crucial. Programs like Dubai’s Economic Agenda ‘D33’ and Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence (DUB.AI), alongside the UK Innovation Strategy, are essential for encouraging entrepreneurship. Dubai Internet City has been at the forefront of digital transformation in the region for 25 years.”

Dubai Internet City’s participation underscores the growing UAE-UK collaboration in fintech, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship. Bilateral trade between the UAE and UK surpassed AED 113 billion, increasing by 2.6% in 2023 compared to 2022. The UAE, the UK’s 19th largest trading partner, saw a 5% rise in exports to the UK in 2023.

Following a successful appearance at GITEX Africa in Morocco, Dubai Internet City continues to champion global collaboration through panel discussions and startup showcases.

Since its inception in 1999, Dubai Internet City has driven digital transformation and economic diversification in the Middle East. Hosting over 3,500 industry leaders, including Google, Microsoft, VISA, and MasterCard, it has become a hub for globally impactful innovation. It also houses UK-based tech giants like AVEVA, Trellix, and Stak.

Dubai Internet City is home to in5 Tech, a TECOM Group’s startup incubator. in5 Tech has supported nearly 900 startups over the past decade, with a 13% year-on-year increase in active startups to 270 in 2023. These startups have collectively raised AED 3 billion in funding. Among them is ReflowX, a British-owned startup transforming the energy sector’s procurement practices with an innovative online marketplace.

Dubai Internet City’s involvement at London Tech Week underscores its 25-year legacy in accelerating the Middle East’s digital transformation and its ongoing commitment to fostering global innovation.
