Sophos, a leading global provider of cybersecurity services, has been recognized as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Modern Endpoint Security for Midsize Businesses 2024 Vendor Assessment. The assessment, which evaluates 16 modern endpoint security (MES) vendors, highlights Sophos’ commitment to innovation and comprehensive protection strategies.

Sophos Endpoint safeguards over 300,000 organizations worldwide against advanced threats using anti-ransomware, anti-exploitation, behavioral analysis, and other cutting-edge technologies. IDC’s report commends Sophos for its inclusive approach, incorporating a wide range of protection technologies such as host-based firewall, IDS/IPS, device control, DLP, and encryption as standard features in its endpoint security offering. Furthermore, Sophos is lauded for its customer security advisory features, including an account health-checking feature for detecting and remediating security configuration drift.

The report also recognizes Sophos for its continuous innovation, including the introduction of adaptive attack protection, critical attack warning, and data protection and recovery capabilities to mitigate risks effectively. Sophos Endpoint seamlessly integrates with other vendors’ solutions and Sophos products like Managed Detection and Response (MDR) and Extended Detection and Response (XDR).

Rob Harrison, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Sophos, emphasizes the company’s dedication to creating comprehensive and preventive defense solutions that seamlessly work with third-party systems. Sophos Intercept X, particularly, continues to be acknowledged as industry-leading, reflecting Sophos’ innovative approach to tackling evolving cyber threats.

The report highlights Sophos’ adaptive attack protection introduced in early 2023, designed to disrupt attackers while minimizing disruptions to legitimate operations. Additionally, Sophos’ critical attack warning alerts security personnel of immediate response requirements, with responses orchestrated through Sophos MDR, incident response (IR), or XDR.

Michael Suby, Research Vice President of Security & Trust at IDC, acknowledges Sophos’ understanding of the needs and challenges faced by midsize businesses. He notes that Sophos’ comprehensive approach from prevention to recovery positions the company as an established and effective security partner for midsize businesses.

Sophos’ portfolio solutions are managed in the cloud-native Sophos Central platform, forming part of the Sophos Adaptive Cybersecurity Ecosystem. This ecosystem enables automatic and synchronized responses to active threats by collecting, correlating, and enriching security data with additional context. The platform is further enhanced by Sophos X-Ops threat intelligence, a collaborative task force comprising over 500 security experts within SophosLabs, Sophos SecOps, and SophosAI.
