European Start-ups Dominate Expand North Star 2024

Expand North Star 2024, the world’s largest start-up event, is gearing up to host its most significant European and British participation to date. Taking place from October 13-16, 2024, at Dubai Harbour, the event will feature over 2,000 start-ups, with more than 400 hailing from Europe and the UK.

Hosted by Dubai Chambers and organized by Dubai World Trade Centre, Expand North Star is part of GITEX GLOBAL, the leading tech event worldwide. Start-ups will showcase innovative solutions across various sectors, including Agritech, AI, Climate Tech, Fintech, Health Tech, and more. Germany leads the new country pavilions with 40 start-ups, followed by Ireland, Poland, Latvia, Austria, and Portugal. The UK returns with a record 50 start-ups, double the number from 2023.

Omar Hassan, Managing Director of Global Growth Hub in the UK, emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “Expand North Star provides UK tech companies with invaluable opportunities for expansion into the UAE and beyond.”

European start-ups have seen significant growth, with funding increasing by 31% in Q2 2024, reaching nearly $16 billion. Investors and VCs, including SpeedInvest, H Tree Capital, and Startup Wise Guys, will be present, alongside over 65 global unicorns such as Volocopter, BitPanda, and Climeworks.

Expand North Star 2024 is part of GITEX GLOBAL, which will run from October 14-18, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, showcasing 6,700 companies from over 180 countries.
