An interview with Giovanni Di Filippo, EMEA President, Lenovo Infrastructure Solution Group (LISG.), a division of Lenovo Group Ltd that provides a range of products and solutions for data centres and enterprise customers, including servers, storage, and networking products, to talk about the company’s presence in LEAP 23 and the growth of digital transformation in KSA.
1. Leap 2022 was a great success for the tech industry, what are your expectations from Leap 2023 and what’s on showcase this year?
Lenovo is proud to be returning for the second edition LEAP to share our vision for a Smarter Future with the international audience of technology decision-makers gathering in Riyadh. This event gives us a great opportunity to connect with Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and demonstrate how Lenovo can provide the right tools, allowing them to be empowered to make the right decisions using advanced solutions and services.
This year at LEAP, we are showcasing our latest solutions designed to accelerate digital transformation in the Kingdom under the theme of ‘Smarter Knows That Together is Better’.
We are proud to be presenting localised solutions that have been developed in strategic collaboration with native Saudi organizations. This is very important for us as we believe that technology can truly solve humanity’s greatest challenges and working together with Saudi companies in multiple verticals is helping us do exactly that, whether it is in Healthcare, Oil & Gas, Environment or elsewhere.
Visitors to the Lenovo booth will witness how innovation and smarter technology can help them accelerate their intelligent transformation journey: from deploying edge servers to managing logistics in a humanitarian crisis. Other themes that will be explored include harnessing the power of supercomputing to enhance medical research, genomics and weather forecasting systems, and leveraging workplace solutions to allow employees to work from where they want and when they want.
2. With USD $6.4Bn investments announced by the Kingdom in 2022, in areas of future technologies & towards becoming the largest digitalized economy in MENA, how can Lenovo contribute towards KSA in this strategy?
Saudi Arabia is a very important market for Lenovo, we have been in the Kingdom for decades and already have established offices there and are working closely with partners and distributors on the ground. The whole of Lenovo Group, both IDG and ISG, has been working with some of the biggest Saudi ministries and private companies in various verticals driving digital change. We have established long-term relationships that are built on trust and loyalty.
Our efforts to bring new products and advanced services into the Saudi market will greatly contribute to the ongoing digitization in different Saudi sectors. We will continue to seize the opportunities driven by accelerated digital transformation and hybrid working while successfully navigating a range of industrywide challenges.
LEAP is a key platform for the technology industry and during the course of the event we will be signing MoUs with local government bodies and SMEs, which will help showcase our commitment to the Kingdom and the role we play as the preferred technology solutions provider.
3. Tell us about your stand on Saudi Vision 2030 – goal of digital transformation across public & private sector industries. Which industries do you see as potential in KSA and how can Lenovo enable them in achieving this?
By providing solutions that meet the needs of various industries in KSA, Lenovo is well-placed to be the partner of choice, playing a major role in our customers’ digitization journeys and business transformation initiatives. We believe that the Saudi Government has a very clear vision for deploying technology and a very strong drive towards digitalization at an unprecedented rate, evident from our interactions with the government and private companies.
This aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to deliver smarter solutions to the verticals of focus such as Government, Public Safety, Security, Education, Healthcare, Tourism, and Infrastructure.
4. Tell us about Lenovo’s strategy on business innovation and customer experience, what can we expect from Lenovo in 2023?
At Lenovo, we believe that the more we push ourselves, the faster we can pilot technologies and bring the right ones to market. As such, we leverage every bit of our expertise, empathy, and intelligence to offer our customers the proper technologies to accelerate their digital agility.
We also acknowledge that today’s definition of customer satisfaction is no longer limited to how our product performs. The experience they have in the course of working with us matters just as much as the product itself. Within our ongoing interactions with customers, we are committed to helping them navigate their digital transformation journey with new technology that speeds up migration from legacy infrastructure to future-ready ecosystems.
We are also strong believers in the Saudi Government’s vision for the deployment of technology and look forward to supporting them to deliver in their goals of smarter cities, smarter governmental services, smarter healthcare services, and smarter educational services for the entire community of the Kingdom.
