Geekay Esports underlines its commitment to being the premier esports company in the Middle East and strengthens the platform by signing with a professional Emirati Valorant squad.

The team from the United Arab Emirates has already competed in a number of competitions, including the Geekay Scouting Tournament, the Emirates Esports Festival 2021, and the Strike Arabia Championship. The Geekay Group’s esports segment continues to expand, making the company one of the region’s most renowned esports investors.

“When Valorant came out, I saw the potential in the game and decided to make the switch from CS: GO. Learning the game took some time, and it became our main game and I started focusing on Valorant itself.” Said Kasper.

He added, “Our team was officially created three days before Strike Arabia, grouping together a bunch of friends: Kasper, FR1, Aimhunter, Infestor and Dutch. We were one of the first teams to qualify for Strike Arabia LAN Event, and it was a grand feeling to grab the attention of Geekay Esports and get the support of such a great organization.”

Since 2013, the 5-man squad has competed in tournaments. Geekay Esports wants to provide logistical and financial support to the team in order to help them overcome the challenges that most MENA teams encounter when trying to break into the global scene and develop a career in esports without worrying about their next paycheck. The following people make up the team:

  • Kasper – Mohamed Hussein Nawab
  • Aimhunter- Khalid Mohamed Karamastaji
  • Infestor – Sultan Maleki
  • FR1 -Saif Alameri
  • Dutch – Hamed Abdulrahman Mohammed Abdulla Kayed

Geekay Group has long been a part of the gaming scene in the region, as it maintains 32 stores and distributes various multinational brands in the video game channel throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The organization is also recognized for sponsoring a variety of events, tournaments, and product launches.

The formation of Geekay Esports is a logical next step for the organization, allowing it to get more involved in the community. The organization intends to host university and school-level tournaments across the UAE in collaboration with various educational outlets to recruit grassroots players. These tournaments will serve as scouting events and provide young athletes with the opportunity to compete at a higher level.

“UAE is where the journey started for Geekay Group. Forming Geekay Esports and recruiting a group of talented Emiratis is just one of the ways we are planning on giving back to the country that supported us.” Said Kishan Deepak Palija – CEO of Geekay Group.

Additionally, these events attempt to educate the next generation of professional esports players on time management, exposing the requirements and dedication required to be a pro player and debunking some of the industry’s intricacies and clichés. According to research, teams who focus on six hours of training per day with mental health breaks perform considerably better than those who practice for more than six hours per day.
