Promobot, a tech company, is preparing to release a new set of human-like robots with friendly faces. The company is willing to pay $280,000 to everyone whose face gets imprinted on one of its robots in exchange for handing over the rights to their faces.
Although Promobot could utilize computer programming to generate all their robotic faces with 3D imaging, they are looking for actual humans to lend their faces for their new batch of robots.
The company stated that while they are hunting for a kind and friendly appearance, they are open to applications from different races and genders across the globe, whose age must be 25 years and above to qualify for the application.
Promobot is gearing towards launching its robots in hotels, shopping centers, and airports across North America and the Middle East starting from 2023.
‘The company is developing technologies in the field of facial recognition, as well speech, autonomous navigation, artificial intelligence and other areas of robotics,’ as per a company statement.
As a first step, the winning applicant will have to create a 3D model of their face and body as an external feature on the robot. It will then take you at least 100 hours of dictation to copy your voice, which will then be used by the machine to communicate with customers.
Last but not least, the winner is required to ‘sign a license agreement’ that permits ‘unlimited use of your appearance’ over a while. Consequently, anyone who meets the above requirements would get compensation in exchange for the right of their faces.
The practice of paying huge compensation to use a human face by the tech company isn’t something new, and with that being said, there’s a rapid pace of change in our technology-driven world.
One trend that is taking the world by storm is robots. From the use of humanoid robots to assist the elderly to advanced machines being used in the automotive industry, the opportunities available for this technology are endless.
