The race to develop more powerful AI capabilities has spurred a significant new investment initiative. BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), Microsoft, and MGX have announced the launch of the Global AI Infrastructure Investment Partnership (GAIIP). This strategic alliance aims to expand data centers globally to meet the rising demand for AI-driven computing power, with the goal of unlocking up to $100 billion in investments.

H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of MGX, emphasised the importance of AI for the future of economies. He said, “Artificial intelligence is not just an industry of the future; it underpins the future. Through this unique partnership, we will enable faster innovation, technological breakthroughs, and transformational productivity gains across the global economy. The investments we make today will secure a more sustainable, prosperous, and equitable future for all mankind.”

The GAIIP initiative will foster an open ecosystem, offering non-exclusive access to a broad range of partners. NVIDIA will contribute its expertise in AI data centers and AI factories, aiding the partnership in developing efficient AI infrastructure. The collaboration seeks to mobilize $30 billion in private equity, bolstered by additional debt financing, leading to an anticipated total investment potential of $100 billion.

Key players in the partnership include global investment leaders BlackRock, GIP, and MGX, with Microsoft contributing its financial strength and AI capabilities. This venture will integrate infrastructure and energy expertise, focusing on sustainable power and decarbonization efforts to drive AI infrastructure growth.

Larry Fink, Chairman and CEO of BlackRock, highlighted the scale of the opportunity: “Mobilizing private capital to build AI infrastructure, such as data centers, will unlock a multi-trillion-dollar long-term investment potential. These investments are critical to driving economic growth and AI innovation.”

Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, emphasized the role of AI in advancing every sector of the economy: “The Global AI Infrastructure Investment Partnership will enable us to build the infrastructure of the future, powering innovation sustainably.”

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang added, “Accelerated computing and generative AI are fueling the need for AI infrastructure for the next industrial revolution. NVIDIA is proud to support GAIIP in designing AI factories that will propel industry innovation.”

With this partnership, MGX continues its mission to invest in AI and advanced technologies, marking a pivotal step in Abu Dhabi’s longstanding commitment to data center infrastructure and AI development.
