People have become accustomed to the varied noises of vehicles on the street, continual talk from neighbours, or even the calm hum of the air-conditioning unit in today’s society where sound is a constant factor that is part of our everyday lives. While some people may adapt to this situation effortlessly, these sounds often drown out the crucial information that consumers want to hear. It might be a conversation they’re having with someone or the music they wish to listen to while driving.
The HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 are open-fit headphones with Active Noise Cancellation and a studio-quality design (ANC). Along with an air-like comfort experience that allows you to use the earphones for a long period of time without feeling any pressure on your ears, this truly wireless earphone maintains Huawei’s FreeBuds technology.
HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 is also compatible with Android and iOS. The HUAWEI AI Life app may be used to change settings or conduct different functions such as wear detection, quick control, status query, noise cancellation, and device management.
We put the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 up against two other prominent true wireless earbuds on the market: the Apple AirPods 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live, to see how excellent they are.
The HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 features a 40 kHz High-Frequency Range Driver Unit that produces studio-quality sound. The LCP polymer composite diaphragm in this completely upgraded 14.3mm driver unit improves sensitivity owing to the lightweight construction. As a consequence, there’s a larger frequency range of up to 40 kHz, resulting in a more immersive listening experience with sound nuances not heard on other earphones.
Due to the increased flow of air that enhances diaphragm vibrations, a bass boosting power engine also provides a more powerful bass. The trebles of the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 remain crisp and precise, while the bass adds low-frequency effects that are typically missing from other open-air earbuds.
The earphones also have Adaptive Ear Matching (AEM) technology, which automatically recognises in-ear surroundings to provide the best noise-cancelling performance regardless of ear type.
The Apple AirPods 2 on the other hand, feature a slightly smaller 14mm dynamic driver that doesn’t support Active Noise Cancellation. Much of the design is carried over from the wired version of its earphones, and much of the advanced features are allocated to the AirPods Pro.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live follow the same open-air fit structure just like the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4. It features a bean-like shaped design that allows it to rest on ears comfortably with 12mm speakers tuned by AKG for a great sound output. The included air vents reduce occlusion for improved spacious audio that also helps with Active Noise Cancelation.
There was a notion that Active Noise Cancelation could only be used with in-ear headphones, but Huawei altered that with its open-fit design, which provided a more comfortable fit while retaining immersive sound quality. The dual-microphone hybrid de-noising technology used by the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 aids to enhance noise cancellation.
With the new revolutionary construction, the earphones can prevent wind noise interference while also enhancing sound pickup sensitivity for the internal microphone. When noise cancellation is enabled, the earbuds are capable of cancelling up to 25 decibels of noise.
Huawei has also included a number of settings to aid the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 in achieving optimal noise-cancelation performance in a variety of scenarios. When users activate the noise cancellation function, the headset recognises the geometry of the ear canal and the wearing conditions, and then selects the optimum noise cancellation settings from a variety of data sets.
The Apple AirPods 2 doesn’t support Active Noise Cancellation and is limited to only AirPods Pro. But the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live on the other hand does support Active Noise Cancellation that can drown out up to 10dB of noise, a lower number compared to what the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 offers.
One of the most important factors customers consider when selecting an earphone is comfort, which is why Huawei spent so much time improving the design process of the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4. The earphones have been redesigned with 13 size optimizations compared to its predecessor, significantly decreasing the size of its body and stem for a lighter weight. This gives customers a comfortable fit that doesn’t weigh them down or put pressure on their ears, allowing them to use them for an extended period of time.
The Apple AirPods 2’s is far simpler and bears similar resemblance to its wired versions with the wires cut off. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live feature a more recognisable design that follows the curves of the user’s ears for a more natural look.
When comparing the pros and disadvantages of each earphone, the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 offers the best value for money. In terms of functionality, the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 outperforms both earphones, providing unparalleled studio-quality sound and unrivalled comfort for an immersive listening experience.
