Drive Data to Barrel, Embrace Intelligence to Grow was the subject of Huawei’s recent Global Oil & Gas Summit 2021 in Abu Dhabi. During the event, Huawei unveiled Intelligent Oil & Gas Fields, a new solution aimed to help oil and gas companies go digital. The solution includes campus security, factory inspection, and predictive maintenance, among other facets of digitalization. Huawei is accelerating digital transformation and intelligent development across the sector by leveraging data and intelligence technology.

To do so, energy and technology industries need to collaborate, reinforcing each other’s strengths and exploring various industry scenarios.

Huawei launched the Intelligent Oil & Gas Fields solution to help the oil and gas industry address challenges.

At the summit, Huawei and G2K Group launched the Intelligent Oil & Gas Fields solution, presented by Robin (Yongping) Lu and Christen Bear, Managing Director, Regional Head GCC at G2K Group. The architecture of the solution consists of four layers: industrial terminal, IoT network, digital platform, and intelligent application.

The solution aims to help oil and gas companies cope with the risks and costs, address data silos, as well as quickly respond to emergencies and build robust information security systems. Huawei will continuously enhance digital platforms and production service applications based on the solution architecture, implement data interconnection through the IoT, and drive flattened management transformation. Huawei focuses on security and efficiency requirements, helping increase reserve and production, improve efficiency, reduce costs and carbon emissions, and ensure operational safety.

Huawei’s oil and gas all-scenario solution focuses on the collaboration of all fields in the industry.

Huawei also showcased its technological skills and all-scenario solutions in upstream exploration, development, and production, midstream pipeline asset management, and downstream refining and chemical sales at the summit.

The growing adoption of technologies like cloud computing, big data, AI, and 5G makes it easier for oil businesses to identify potential data value, boosting their E2E efficiency in oil exploration, development, production, storage, transportation, refining, and sales.

Secretary of the CNPC AI Research Center, Wu Shuhong Deng Xili, Principal Lead, G&G (RCM), CNPC RIPED, explained how Huawei’s intelligent E&P solution uses cloud, AI, and big data to analyse seismic data fast and correctly, locate oil and gas reservoirs, and diagnose pumping well working conditions. We can get more value out of “silent data” and “useless data” if we look for it.

Simultaneously, transferring mission-critical services to the cloud aids in the resolution of typical pain points in oil and gas field infrastructure, such as slow response, high cost, and low efficiency. In real-life scenarios, Zhang Tiegang, former Deputy Chief Engineer of Daqing Oil field’s Exploration and Development Research Institute, explained the benefits of the Intelligent Oil & Gas Fields solution. Daqing Oilfield processed approximately 22,000 square kilometres of seismic data using Huawei’s cloud computing capabilities in 2020, which is more than twice the original data processing capability.

Huawei builds an open ecosystem and works with partners to create more value.

Extending Huawei’s solutions requires collaboration. Huawei’s partner system has been updated, and it has worked with a variety of partners. Customers, partners, and Huawei must all work together to drive innovation, according to David (Zhengyu) Shi, President of Huawei Middle East’s Enterprise Business Group. In order to help E2E digital transformation and build creative solutions, Huawei has created a partnership service system.

Meanwhile, G2K Group’s Christen Bear spoke about her experience working with Huawei. She highlighted the creative solutions that the two firms have created thus far, stating that there will be more potential for collaboration in the future as they continue to deliver connectivity and information to clients while setting new standards for digital transformation.

Huawei, a global leader in ICT infrastructure and smart devices, offers high-performance hardware to assist oil and gas organizations in establishing flexible and dependable networks and data centers. Huawei will continue to focus on the oil and gas business in the future, consolidating partners’ capabilities and developing scenario-based solutions, and work with customers to create new value together.
