Building on the success of its first edition, Huawei hosted the second Digital Transformation Innovation Contest (DTIC) at the Operations Transformation Forum (OTF 2024) in Istanbul, Turkey. This initiative is designed to foster knowledge-sharing among telecom carriers (Telcos) to inspire and accelerate their shift towards becoming technology companies (Techcos).

In today’s fast-evolving digital landscape, traditional telecom carriers are increasingly driven to transform into technology-driven companies to remain competitive. This transformation is critical for achieving sustainable growth and long-term viability in the market. To successfully transition, carriers must leverage operational intelligence and advanced systems, enhancing efficiency, streamlining processes, and lowering costs, ultimately improving customer satisfaction and loyalty in a competitive environment.

An agile business model is fundamental for carriers aiming to adapt quickly to market changes and capture new revenue streams. This agility is possible through investments in unified digital platforms that analyze data across multiple domains. By incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), carriers can generate meaningful insights that guide strategic objectives, optimize service delivery, and create responsive, innovative organizations.

Reflecting on the second DTIC’s impact, Allen Tang, President of ICT Marketing and Solution Sales Department at Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, noted, “Building on the success of the first DTIC in 2023, we believe the second edition will continue to inspire telecom carriers to share their insights and strategies, empowering them to enhance their digital transformation through innovative use cases that improve customer satisfaction and drive successful business models.”

The contest aligns with Huawei’s “RACING” framework, which outlines five key benefits of technological transformation:

– ARPU Increase: Monetizing service quality and enhancing the customer experience to improve Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).

– Customer Development: Using intelligent customer segmentation to drive user growth through superior service quality.

– Innovative Services: Delivering AI-driven services and products that support carriers’ transformation journeys.

– Net Loss Reduction: Predicting risks in operations to minimize service losses and optimize maintenance.

– Go/Churn Reduction: Understanding user behavior through data analytics to improve retention.

Huawei’s second DTIC received over 50 applications from carriers across the Middle East and Central Asia, with the top 26 advancing to the finals. These entries focused on ARPU increase, customer development, innovative services, net loss reduction, and churn reduction, showcasing the transformative impact of intelligent digital innovation.

By creating a platform like DTIC, Huawei exemplifies its commitment to advancing digital capabilities for telecom operators, enabling them to improve operations, boost customer satisfaction, and explore new revenue streams. This year’s DTIC featured award-winning teams, industry analysts, and experts who shared insights, fostering innovation in the telecom industry and driving the next wave of digital transformation.
