The Dubai Electronic Security Centre (DESC), which works to ensure the emirate becomes a leader in cybersecurity and the protection of information from external cyber threats, has become the official government partner of Intersec 2023, the world’s leading trade fair for safety, security and fire protection that will run over 47,000sqm at Dubai World Trade Centre from January 17-19.

Experts in cyber solutions, including public and private sector specialists, national leaders, advisers, economists, and corporate purchasers, will be present at Intersec’s Cyber Security sector. A prominent Middle Eastern artificial intelligence and cybersecurity service provider, NX Digital Technology, the UDA’s FM Approvals, and Israel’s Cellebrite GmbH will be among the prominent exhibitors.

Alex Nicholl, Show Director at Intersec organiser Messe Frankfurt said “Cyber security is an integral part of that, and its importance continues to grow. The biggest names in Cyber Security in the Middle East and from further afield will gather at Intersec 2023, creating an unmissable three days for global CTO’s, CISO’s, Heads of Cybersecurity and System Integrators, among others. It is an honour to have DESC and the UAE Cybersecurity Council as Government partners, emphasising the importance of this burgeoning sector.”

A unique cybersecurity awareness programme will be held by DESC as part of the Cybernode initiative, which was created in collaboration with Thales. Under DCIPark, Cybernode has been established with the goal of up-skilling the cyber workforce in the UAE and beyond to create a safer cyberspace. DCIPark offers top-notch cybersecurity training, intensive courses, and challenging scenarios.

Dr Bushra Al Blooshi, DESC’s Head of Research & Innovation said “Considering today’s advancing technology, cybersecurity is an absolute necessity for businesses, especially with remote working culture and digital transformation.”

He added “A recent global study shows that cyber fundamentals fail to exist in certain organizations and processes, which can cause major security and financial challenges. Attendees at Intersec 2023 will be able to learn how to prevent this through essential cyber security measures, including the Five Pillars of Cybersecurity Hygiene, at these exclusive Cybernode sessions.”

His Excellency Dr Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cybersecurity Council said “The UAE Cybersecurity Council will encourage local and international government attendance, promote and highlight local initiatives, and contribute to the three-day dedicated conference programme. Cybersecurity and protection of digital assets is top of the agenda globally and our partnership with Intersec reinforces the importance of keeping the UAE safe and secure from cybercrime.”

The 24th Intersec will cover more than 47,000 square metres with more than 950 exhibitors from more than 120 countries displaying over 10,000 products over six categories and more than 10 national pavilions. The event is expected to draw up to 30,000 professional visitors.

Support for Intersec also comes from Government partners the UAE Cybersecurity Council. In November 2020, the UAE Cabinet agreed to establish the UAE Cybersecurity Council to develop a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy and create a safe and strong cyberinfrastructure in the UAE. The Council, chaired by the Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, contributes to creating a legal and regulatory framework that covers all types of cybercrimes, securing existing and emerging technologies, and establishing a robust ‘National Cyber Incident Response Plan’ to enable a swift and coordinated response to cyber incidents in the country.

These two Government Partners will also be leading Intersec’s three-day Cyber Security Conference, which will deep-dive into cyber security policing, national security, cyber resilience, blockchain, and smart cities.

Intersec 2023’s knowledge programme will also feature seminars devoted to safety and health, as well as a dedicated conference for the fire and rescue sector.
