Masdar, Infinity Power Ink Deal for 200MW Wind Farm in Egypt

Masdar, a UAE clean energy leader, and Infinity Power have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for a 200MW onshore wind farm in Ras Ghareb, Gulf of Suez.

The new wind farm is set to produce 810,000 MWh annually and avoid 403,672 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, aligning with Egypt’s sustainability goals. The project will expand Infinity Power’s renewable energy portfolio as part of its plan to achieve 10GW of operational renewable energy by 2030. This target aims to power 12 million homes and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 15-20 million tons annually across Africa.

The signing ceremony, held at the Egyptian Cabinet in Al-Alamein, was attended by H.E. Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, and H.E. Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and COP28 President. The agreement was signed by Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, Eng. Nayer Fouad, CEO of Infinity Power, Salah Ezzat, Acting Chairman of EETC, and Dr. Mohamed El-Khayat, CEO of NREA.

Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Chairman of Infinity Power, stated, “The Ras Ghareb wind farm exemplifies our commitment to sustainable energy and growth in Egypt, while creating jobs and contributing to a greener future.”

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi added, “This project, through Infinity Power, marks a significant step in advancing Africa’s clean energy potential and the global transition to renewable energy.”
