Microsoft Corp. announced its expansion into the UAE with a new Global Engineering Development Center in Abu Dhabi, marking one of the company’s first engineering centers in the Arab world. This center joins Microsoft’s global network of development hubs, dedicated to advancing AI innovations, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity solutions.
The Abu Dhabi center will develop cutting-edge technologies that will be integrated into Microsoft’s global solutions. This move highlights Microsoft’s commitment to further establishing the UAE as a global hub for tech innovation and talent. Microsoft’s collaboration with G42 has played a key role in fostering a thriving local tech ecosystem, with the new center aimed at attracting global talent to create solutions for critical industries worldwide.
His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, commented, “Abu Dhabi is well-positioned to lead global efforts in AI, with transformative solutions benefiting both people and the planet.”
Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s Chairman and CEO, stated, “Our Engineering Development Center in Abu Dhabi will bring new talent to the region and help drive economic growth and job creation both locally and globally.”
Peng Xiao, CEO of G42, noted, “The establishment of Microsoft’s center underscores the UAE’s growing role as a tech innovation hub, complementing our efforts to build a stronger digital future.”
The center will also contribute to workforce development in the region through collaborations with local universities, training centers, and government initiatives, particularly in AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
