Motorola recently launched the moto g30 in UAE, in its mid-tier segment. This smartphone with some cool features will cost you only 699 AED. The mid-tier segment for smartphone companies is the most important segment as this is where most buyers are. Naturally, most of the innovation and features are packed for this tier. The moto g30 doesn’t fall behind much specially when the talking point here is the price and some of its features like the 90hz refresh rate display are a rare occurrence in low-priced phones.

Specs

The motog30 operates on Android 11 and sports a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™662 with 2.0GHz octa-core Kryo™260 CPU, 950MHz Adreno™610 GPU. A 6GB Ram and 128 GB built in storage is absolutely amazing for a phone priced at 699 AED. I am not sure if there’s any 6GB RAM phone with 128 GB storage available in the market for this price. The phone weighs around 200 gms and is a decent weight to carry around. In terms of the hardware and software, the phone will give you a lot more than you expect. With a 90Hz refresh rate, your phone display is refreshing more number of times than many mid-tier phones in the market. You can switch to 60hz manually though as 90hz display would consume more battery eventually.

Design

The build is mostly plastic with round edges and easy to carry without dropping it much. The right side has all the buttons including the power button, volume up-down and the google assistant sitting on the top. The moto g30 sports a C-type charging port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack (with charger & headphones included in the pack). The sim card slot sits on the top left side, with 2 nano-sim card slots and 1 micro-sd slot. On the backside, you will find the Moto logo which is also your fingerprint sensor which works alright and just above that to the left is the quad-camera set-up.

Camera –

The moto g30 sports an ultra-high resolution 64 MP quad camera with night vision which works well at most times in outdoor settings. The main 64MP camera (f/1.7, 1.4um), Quad Pixel & Night Vision will help you take good enough pictures in good light. The Ultra-wide angle 8MP (f/2.2, 1.12um) | 118° will help you capture wide shots for broader frames or fit broader backgrounds. With the Macro Vision 2MP (f/2.4, 1.75um) camera you can take close zoomed-in shots for tiny objects like plants, flowers, food shots etc. for that extra detail. With Depth Sensor 2MP (f/2.4, 1.75um), you can take cool portraits and get that background blurred up. The font camera is a good 13MP (f/2.2, 1.12um) selfie cam and does take some decent shots. Although it could have done better in terms of resolution but this definitely is much-much more than a basic camera and most shots will stand out if taken correctly. One of the coolest features is to just twist your wrist twice even when the phone is locked, and there you go your camera is onn. Click onn then!

Add-on Camera Features

The Auto Smile feature also is a good one where the cam automatically captures a shot when you are smiling or everyone in the frame is smiling.  While taking a selfie just show the palm of your hand and the front cam will take a picture automatically. The Shot Optimization feature, will automatically suggest modes or color adjustments that best optimize the exposure, contrast, saturation, and color for every shot that you want to take. When capturing a single person or a group of people, the camera recognizes potential improvements in composition and then automatically generates a second, optional image for you. These are some cool cam features that one would certainly enjoy while using the moto g30.

Battery

5000 mAh of battery on any phone is sure to give you those extra hours on a single charge and the moto g30 gives you 2 days on a full charge. With moderate usage it will last you around 1.5 days and with heavier usage, 1 full day is more or less what you would get. It goes without saying that the power consumption will depend on an individual’s usage of the phone. If you are actually getting work done in office without touching your phone every 2 mins then the above stats will stand good for most of you 😀
