Noon.com announced that it will build the UAE’s largest fulfilment centre in Abu Dhabi as part of an anchor investment into the emirate’s fast-growing e-commerce space.
The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and Noon collaborated to create the 252,000 square metres mega facility, which will create thousands of jobs and propel the emirate’s digital economy into its next stage of expansion.
The fulfilment centre will be located in Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) and will be designed and made by using KEZAD Group’s Build-to-Suit solution. Noon will take advantage of the strategic emirate location and network to better its delivery services for millions of its customers in UAE and offer new and fresh opportunities for small businesses to sell their products via noon’s platform.
Incentives both monetary and non-monetary are offered by ADIO to noon for the construction of the fulfilment centre. The business-friendly environment in Abu Dhabi, along with the well-established infrastructure of the KEZAD Group, creates a strong basis for noon’s fulfilling activities in the area, allowing for their quick expansion.
Abdulla Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Acting Director General of ADIO said “Noon’s partnerships with ADIO and KEZAD Group are significant in both scale and impact, creating thousands of jobs and new opportunities for the private sector to plug into an e-commerce platform and the emirate’s innovation ecosystem. Leveraging noon’s cutting-edge logistics, innovation and technology expertise, the mega fulfilment centre will reinforce Abu Dhabi’s emerging strength in e-commerce and logistics, while boosting adjacent industries like transportation and warehousing.”
Mohamed Alabbar, Founder of Noon said “The new e-commerce hub in Abu Dhabi will unite millions of customers and thousands of businesses to fuel the UAE’s digital economy’s next phase of growth. As a local technology company, it is our duty to innovate, invent, and provide the optimal infrastructure for a digital-first future. The new hub in the UAE will accelerate not only noon’s growth, but also e-commerce in our region. We are proud to collaborate with UAE industry leaders such as ADIO and KEZAD in order to provide our people and nation with the world-class tools necessary for success.”
The facility, which is slated to be finished in 2024, will be delivered as a sustainable building that complies with the Estidama 2 Pearl rating. That includes initiatives to enable the minimization of water, energy, and waste as well as the use of local materials, which reduces transportation emissions and supports the local economy.
