Nutanix (NASDAQ: NTNX), a hybrid multicloud computing company, has announced that Al Dahra, a global agribusiness company with operations in over 20 countries, has migrated its IT infrastructure to Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This migration has resulted in a 10x improvement in the performance of business-critical applications and a 60% reduction in cloud costs, helping Al Dahra achieve greater operational efficiency and cost savings.
Al Dahra, which operates over 400,000 acres of agricultural land in countries such as Egypt, Romania, Serbia, and the USA, specializes in the production and trading of essential food commodities and animal feed. The company faced a critical deadline to migrate from its UAE-based data center, with its complex IT infrastructure consisting of Amazon EC2, VMware, and Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure, which led to performance issues, high costs, and administrative challenges.
According to Gagandeep Singh Hoda, IT Manager at Al Dahra, “Our ERP system and other mission-critical applications were struggling with subpar performance. Analysis revealed that the IOPS in each environment were insufficient, and upgrading hardware would have been too costly. With just four weeks to migrate, we needed a solution fast.”
Al Dahra’s IT team decided to consolidate their environments into a single cloud-based solution, selecting Nutanix Cloud Clusters on AWS for its consistent performance across environments and its strong partnership with AWS. The entire migration, which included evaluation, procurement, deployment, and application migration, was completed in just four weeks. The transition was facilitated by Nutanix Move, which enabled seamless migration without additional costs.
The results of the migration exceeded expectations, with Al Dahra seeing a 10x improvement in application performance, including faster data processing times for ERP applications that once took hours but now only take minutes. This performance boost has allowed business units to make data-driven decisions up to 98% faster. Additionally, the migration led to a 60% reduction in monthly cloud costs, thanks to a shift from a Compute Savings Plan to an Instance Savings Plan. The integration of monitoring and backup solutions into a single platform has also saved administrators two hours per day, resulting in a 25% increase in productivity.
The new infrastructure provides Al Dahra with enhanced application resilience, enabling rapid scalability and high availability for critical applications. The company plans to deploy additional NC2 nodes for active-active operations in the near future.
This migration has not only improved performance and reduced costs but also positioned Al Dahra for future growth. The company now benefits from Nutanix’s multi-cloud architecture, which offers flexibility and avoids vendor lock-in, while AWS provides cost-saving opportunities. Al Dahra’s IT team is focused on further advancing application resilience and disaster recovery capabilities as the company continues to expand its global operations.
Hoda reflected on the migration, stating, “Our successful four-week migration and the significant improvements in performance, cost, and admin productivity prove that Nutanix is a true partner. We now have the confidence to tackle the next phase of our digital transformation and continue scaling our business.”
