PNY Performance DDR5 4800MHz PC Memory is the latest addition to PNY’s comprehensive array of PC memory for computer upgrades as well as enthusiasts and gamers. In comparison to previous generation technologies, DDR5 will enable higher-density modules and greater frequency rates in next-generation systems that implement the new memory standard.
The PNY Performance DDR5 memory module is designed to work with the expanding number of motherboards that support the new DDR5 memory standard. Many innovative and interesting functions are provided by this sophisticated technology that was limited or not available in prior generations of PC memory. DDR5 comes equipped with greater density modules (up to four times more per module) and quicker frequency rates. DDR5 starts at 4800MHz, compared to DDR4, which has a restricted JEDEC standard speed of 3200 megahertz. PNY Performance memory will likewise start at 16GB per module and run at 4800 megahertz, which is the JEDEC standard.
The DDR5 modules will run at an ultra-low 1.1 volts and will have on-die ECC functionality to boost efficiency. DDR4 memory now relies on the motherboard to perform voltage conversion, while DDR5 memory allows on-module conversion, which results in reduced voltage wear and less noise generation. DDR5 also provides more headroom for overclocking and voltage changes, thanks to the on-module PMIC (Power Management IC).
Intel‘s Alder Lake CPU will be the first to support the DDR5 standard when it launches in late 2021, but with expanding support from other CPU manufacturers, DDR5 will likely exceed DDR4 in popularity by 2023.
Michelle Bolchune, Director of Marketing at PNY said: “We’re excited to add cutting-edge DDR5 technology to our product portfolio. While we are launching our first DDR5 models in the Performance line, we will also be supporting gamers, content creators, and enthusiasts in their on-going quest for PC performance by launching models under our XLR8 Gaming brand. These models will feature higher frequency speeds, aggressive out-of-the-box overclocking, stylish heat spreaders and RGB illumination.”
“The DRAM industry is on the verge of an important transition from today’s DDR4 to the higher-performance DDR5 interface. Through this announcement, PNY is clearly showing that it wants to be in the lead during this transition,” says Jim Handy, Memory Industry Analyst at Objective Analysis.
PNY XLR8 Gaming DDR5 4800MHz Desktop Memory will be ready for compatibility testing with multiple motherboard makers in the third quarter of 2021, with mass production expected in the fourth quarter of 2021, with Amazon and PNY channel availability.
