PUBG MOBILE, one of the world’s most popular mobile games, has launched a new campaign titled ‘Play For Green’ as part of the Green Game Jam, organized by Playing For The Planet. This initiative, supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), aims to raise awareness of environmental protection and inspire real-world action through gaming. The campaign introduces a new official map series, exclusive in-game events, and themed rewards designed to engage PUBG MOBILE’s global player base in supporting conservation projects.

‘Play For Green’ brings players the ‘Ruins of Erangel,’ a new map created in collaboration with UCL professor Mark Maslin. This map is set 100 years into the future, imagining the effects of unchecked climate change on the iconic Erangel location. The map series features two distinct modes: Sandstorm, where players face off in a survival challenge amid harsh sandstorms, and Exploration, a narrative-driven experience that educates players on the environmental impacts of climate change through interactive storytelling. The map takes into account real climate data and highlights how the planet could be transformed by extreme weather patterns if no action is taken.

As part of the ‘Play For Green’ initiative, PUBG MOBILE is hosting the ‘Run for Green’ in-game event from September 11 to 24. Players can contribute to real-world conservation efforts by participating in this event, with sprint distances in Classic modes helping to protect over 350,000 square meters of vital land across Indonesia, Pakistan, and Brazil. Projects supported include Brazil’s Cerrado Biome, Indonesia’s Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve, and Pakistan’s Delta Blue Carbon project, each focused on preserving biodiversity and mitigating the effects of climate change. Participants in the event will unlock a series of in-game items, including access to a special ‘Preservation Garden’ that showcases endangered plants and trees.

Additionally, PUBG MOBILE is launching the World of Wonder Green Creative Contest, running from September 12 to 25. Players are encouraged to design maps using the newly released ‘Ruins of Erangel’ template and themed items such as endangered California Redwood and Giant Baobab trees. The best submissions will win a share of the $12,500 prize pool, with winning maps featured in the World of Wonder mode. If players collectively engage with these maps over 10 million times, PUBG MOBILE has pledged to double its support for the environmental projects featured in the campaign.

PUBG MOBILE is also hosting the Global Action Challenge on its social media channels from September 17 to 30. Players are invited to share stories of local environmental initiatives they’ve participated in, using #PUBGMPlayForGreen, for a chance to win exclusive in-game items.

With ‘Play For Green,’ PUBG MOBILE is leveraging the power of its global gaming community to raise awareness about climate change and inspire real-world environmental action. Vincent Wang, Head of PUBG MOBILE Publishing at Tencent Games, expressed the company’s commitment to addressing climate change through gaming, while Professor Mark Maslin emphasized the importance of educating players about the environmental challenges that lie ahead.

Join the ‘Play For Green’ campaign in PUBG MOBILE and take part in a global movement to protect the planet, all while enjoying an immersive gaming experience.
