Sony Electronics is expanding its lineup of pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras with the addition of two 4K models with built-in AI analytics. The SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 cameras automatically and consistently track, and naturally frame presenters, regardless of movement or posture, for seamless content creation and control – all without operating a computer.

The new PTZ Auto Framing technology offers several Auto Framing settings in addition to automatic operation for speedy object tracking and rediscovery. The cameras’ highlights include the automation of image quality, IP’s adaptability, strong zoom, remote control, and simplicity of configuration and operation. They are perfect for usage in live events as well as in corporate, medical, government, broadcast, and religious applications.

Antoun Ghosn – Product Marketing Manager for PTZ Network Cameras, Sony Middle East & Africa said “Incorporating the image quality that is Sony’s bedrock, the latest PTZ cameras truly represent a new generation of efficient models that are smarter than ever with the addition of built-in AI analytics enabling PTZ Auto Framing, paired with the potential resulting from remote control. The way our customers in Middle East & Africa capture content, including the location from which they do it, have changed drastically over the last few years. We listened and created a new user-friendly series enabling mounting freedom, prioritizing location-free operation, and creating streamlined workflow empowering operators with varying degrees of expertise to create extremely professional content while keeping operating costs down.”

Smart Automation: PTZ Auto Framing

The new advanced cameras from Sony have a built-in PTZ Auto Framing feature with AI analytics, enhancing the ease of use and efficiency. The feature provides multiple framing angles for close-ups, waist-up, or full-body shots, giving more creative control and customization options. The cameras start working automatically as soon as they are powered on and track objects using advanced recognition technologies including facial recognition, even for masked faces. Additionally, the cameras have a user-friendly tally light that helps users identify which camera is currently in use and track movements.

Excellent Picture Quality

SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 equip a highly sensitive Exmor R CMOS sensor for high-quality, naturally vivid images with less noise than support 4K 30p and Full HD 60p. SRG-A40 provides Clear Image Zoom technology that doubles the optical zoom from 20x to 30x in 4K or 40x in Full HD, while the SRG-A12 provides up to 12x zoom digitally. SRG-A40 can also extend up to 80x zoom using tele convert mode. SRG-A12 can go up to 24x giving smooth and quick PTZ movement between cameras. The capture of light and shadows is improved by day and night modes.

Flexible and Stable Production

The new models offer 3G-SDI, HDMI, and IP connectivity (NDI®|HX available through optional license)

and can be controlled remotely through VISCA/VISCA over IP, using a single network cable for power, output and control. They also include Power over Ethernet Plus Plus (PoE++), allowing for simplified integration into new or existing environments – without separate power supply cabling. With robust connection and integration options, the new series takes advantage of PTZ cameras’ distinct ability to provide capture and control even in hard-to-reach locations, while offering new angles and vantage points. Support for Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) allows for remote viewing, while Security Reliable Transport (SRT) protocol enables safe, smooth, stable video streaming.

Easy Configuration and Operation

The cameras are easy to integrate and install and can be used by operators of all levels. With the picture setting file, users can quickly set up menu settings and create uniformity across cameras. The PTZ motion sync feature allows for smooth and fast PTZ movement to a target position with a maximum pan/tilt angle range of ±170°. Pre-set recall allows for quick transitions between cameras to capture important moments, and the picture freeze preset holds the last image captured in place as the camera moves, avoiding blurry transition shots and minimizing distraction. Furthermore, the virtual webcam driver software can transform up to five connected cameras into professional tools for web-based meetings by providing high-quality images through a computer.
