BeyondTrust released the results of a commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of BeyondTrust titled, “Evolving Privileged Identity Management (PIM) In the Next Normal,” November 2020.
These projections, authored by BeyondTrust experts Morey J. Haber, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Security Officer, Brian Chappell, Director, Product Management and Karl Lankford, Director Solutions Engineering, are based on shifts in technology.
The integration enables passwordless administration, eliminating a significant attack vector while improving the user experience. System administrators can perform administrative tasks by elevating applications, not users, without entering administrative credentials.
Achievement of these security milestones included a broad scope of BeyondTrust systems, including its internal controls and Endpoint Privilege Management (EPM) and Secure Remote Access (SRA) product portfolios.
The concept of passwordless administration is generally linked to just-in-timePAM, since the methods of applying passwordless administration can cover several technologies to temporarily elevate the user or the application for the specific requested task. In other words, in lieu of entering secondary administrative credentials, the user is trusted based on context.
