Professor Karray comes to MBZUAI after serving as the founding co-director of the Waterloo Artificial Intelligence Institute at the University of Waterloo in Canada. He is also the founding co-director of the University of Waterloo.

MBZUAI and TII said they have formed the partnership to advance AI research and understanding of the technology, with the aim of further strengthening the AI ecosystem in the UAE and beyond.

The event welcomed 78 students who have joined the University from 29 countries. MBZUAI’s first students were selected from thousands of applications received by the University from nearly 100 countries. The first cohort includes 13 PhD students and 65 MSc students, who have enrolled in MBZUAI’s Machine Learning and Computer Vision programs.

Virgin Hyperloop also announced a partnership with Abu Dhabi’s Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) to support the development of hyperloop technology and sustainable transportation through advanced A.I. research. About Virgin Hyperloop Virgin Hyperloop has successfully tested hyperloop technology at scale, launching the new mode of mass transportation.

The session ‘Evolution of Artificial Intelligence: Past, Current and Future’ will be hosted by Dr. Munawar Hayat, an Assistant Professor in the Computer Vision department at MBZUAI. During the webinar, Dr. Hayat will discuss the major developments and breakthroughs in AI over the past decade and offer insights into its potential future impact.
