At Expo 2020, Alif-The Mobility Pavilion, which brings the narrative of global mobility to life in immersive and inspirational ways, highlights the UAE’s and the Arab world’s vital role in furthering human development.
Al Amiri headed the team, of whom 80 percent are women, through the challenging journey of building and launching the first Arab spacecraft in collaboration with international universities. The team, under her leadership and guidance, defied the rising challenge of successfully launching the probe from Japan in July 20, 2020, amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The mission was given a no-go following a weather evaluation. The probe was scheduled to launch in the early hours of Wednesday morning in July 15, 2020 at 12:51am UAE time, but storm clouds rolled in around the launch pad ahead of the scheduled liftoff.
