Millions of users worldwide were unable to send and receive messages today due to a technical issue with WhatsApp servers. While users couldn’t send any messages to group chats, their messages to individual chats weren’t delivered because it was showing only one tick.

A spike in users reporting WhatsApp’s outage has been observed on Downdetector, a website that monitors online outages around the world.

Kaspersky researchers discovered a new malicious version of YoWhatsApp, a popular WhatsApp messenger mod. Popular for providing features not available in the official app, this mod spreads the infamous Triada mobile Trojan, which can download other Trojans, issue paid subscriptions, and even steal WhatsApp accounts.
