Apple halted testing of HomeKit’s new architecture in iOS 16.2 but has since resumed it, with the platform showing up in the iOS 16.3 beta.
After receiving concerns that the update wasn’t functioning well for users, Apple removed the option to upgrade Homekit to the new architecture in December 2022. For the upcoming batch of operating system updates, it now appears that Apple is getting ready to attempt it all over again.
A notice stating that there is a “Home Upgrade Available” with a “new underlying architecture that will improve the performance of your home” can be seen in screenshots from the iOS 16.3 beta.
In the previous attempt, users complained that their devices remained unresponsive or incompletely updated after the upgrading process had finished and were still in an “updating” mode.
With the iOS 16.3 beta, apple seems confident that the HomeKit’s new architecture is fixed and applying it for the second time.
Apart from this, there are a few more features expected in the iOS 16.3 beta version.
New phrases in the Emergency SOS Settings
The recording in the iPhone’s Emergency SOS settings is another function that has been identified in the second beta of iOS 16.3. These options will be significantly more obvious. According to a report by MacRumors, “Call with Hold” is now “Call with Hold and Release,” and “Call with Five Presses” is now “Call with Five Button Presses.” The phrase “Countdown Sound” is replaced with the phrase “Call Quietly.” Additionally, Apple gave the description for each command.
Security Keys for Apple IDs
Users can utilise hardware security keys for Apple ID features to further secure their accounts. After you turn on this feature, Security Keys are strengthened by employing two-factor authentication with a hardware security key as one of the two factors. But the feature will rely on external security keys.
