The 40th GITEX Technology Week 2020 wrapped up in Dubai last Thursday. Technology veterans and business leaders from across the world gathered under one roof to attend this long-awaited in-person event amid the pandemic.
As part of UAE’s vision to harness innovative technology solutions and enhance the nation’s preparedness for the next fifty years, the event served as an umbrella for international technology visionaries, industry innovators and global investors.
Like every year, the event bustled for 5 consecutive days featuring the participation of over 1,200+ private companies, government entities and startups coming from 60+ countries. The exhibition also observed the first-ever remarkable presence of the State of Israel opening vast opportunities for future business collaborations.
Sheikh Mohammed Binn Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai during his visit to GITEX Technology Week said, “The decision to organize GITEX as an in-person event reflects our determination to overcome the current circumstances. It also reflects the UAE’s commitment to supporting its major partners in the global technology industry across the world. By organising GITEX this year, we seek to strengthen and expand our long-standing partnership with them to accelerate our shared journey to the future. I would like to commend the efforts of the event’s organisers in holding this major global event. Exhibitors from 60 countries have placed their trust in Dubai’s ability to offer them a healthy and safe environment both at the event and during their stay in Dubai”
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, “With its strong management of the pandemic and comprehensive precautionary measures, the international technology community considers Dubai as one of the safest destinations to host global events of this magnitude. The positive response to the event also shows that the world’s tech industry looks to the emirate as a key player in revitalising networking, partnership building and knowledge sharing in the sector.”
