TerraMaster, a professional brand specializing in innovative storage products for homes, businesses, and enterprises, highlights the TerraMaster Flexible Disk Array (TRAID) as one of the key features of the newly released TerraMaster TOS 5 operating system.
The TerraMaster TRAID RAID management tool optimizes traditional RAID modes. TRAID, which was introduced as a competitor to the Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR), provides users with flexible disk array configuration, flexible online migration, capacity expansion, and redundancy policies in TOS 5.
TerraMaster employs the Linux disk management tool to subtly divide hard disk space of varying capacities into smaller partitions, which are then recombined using the redundancy strategy. TRAID improves disk space utilization while also providing solutions and security protection for storage space changes caused by new business requirements.
TRAID Key Features
Flexible Disk Array
TRAID includes features such as automatic disk space combination, hard disk failure redundancy protection, and automatic capacity expansion.
Higher Disk Space Utilization
Combining five HDDs of varying capacities (1TB, 2TB, 4TB, 8TB, and 10TB) to form a disk array with redundancy protection only provides 5TB of usable storage space in traditional RAID mode (RAID 5). With TRAID’s elastic strategy, you can get 23TB of usable storage space.
1Flexible Storage Space Expansion
Once TRAID is installed, users can easily increase storage space by replacing the hard drive with a larger capacity or increasing the number of hard drives.
Hard Disk Failure Redundancy Protection
TRAID provides redundant hard disk failure protection, with protection for one hard disk failure. TRAID+ provides redundant protection for up to two hard disk failures.
Higher Level TRAID: TRAID+
By increasing the number of hard drives, users can migrate from TRAID to TRAID+. TRAID+ requires a minimum of four hard disks.
