The PlayStation 5 September System Software Update is now available worldwide. Sony has announced the release of PS5’s September System Software Update. While the PS5’s new interface was very similar to the PS4, the system menus needed some work, but the September 2021 upgrade provides more than UI enhancements.

Users of the PlayStation 5 software beta program were given a brief test run of the updated system software. Sony seems to be upgrading the PS5 in every way, from the customer experience to the hardware and peripheral options available after the console’s introduction. However, there were no significant modifications to the way the console’s menus were navigated. Anyone who has used the PS5 for a long time will notice that everything is nearly the same spot.

The Playstation 5 September System Software Update is now available, and it can be found under the PlayStation 5’s downloads section. Once the download is complete, the console will restart, but it will wait for user confirmation if a game is in progress. The DualSense controller has also received a fresh firmware update. Users will connect in each of their DualSenses once the PS5 has been restarted and can update to acquire the newest compatible software. There isn’t any information on the controller upgrade, but a PlayStation Blog entry discusses the PS5 system software update, highlighted below.

Perhaps the most exciting advancement of the latest console generation is solid-state SSDs. The PS5 and Xbox Series X have practically eliminated load times in games built to take advantage of the new technology. Unfortunately, SSDs are more expensive than hard disk drives with the same memory space, so the new consoles are a little short on storage. PS5 has an 825GB SSD, with most of it used for software systems; however, the console was designed to allow for the insertion of a second SSD, which was facilitated with the September system software upgrade. The SSD storage on the PS5 can now be extended; but, it will take some effort.

To begin, you’ll need to locate a compatible M.2 SSD, the requirements for which could be seen on PlayStation’s support site. Sony suggests investing in an SSD with a built-in heat sink, which will cost a little extra. After selecting a suitable candidate among the top PS5-compatible SSD solutions, customers must open their PS5  to install it. The PlayStation support page linked above also contains instructions about how to install it.

Sony has promoted the PS5’s better audio qualities in addition to the SSD’s faster load speeds. Its unique audio system software, known as 3D audio, was previously exclusively accessible through headphones. When sound is produced through the built-in TV speakers, the September system software update claims to improve immersion. Although most TVs only have stereo speakers, Sony promises that the 3D audio update will allow them to approach system audio capabilities.
