The UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Samsung Gulf Electronics to accelerate AI adoption and development in the UAE. This collaboration aligns with the UAE’s ambitious AI Strategy, aiming for global leadership in AI by 2031. It also complements Samsung’s objectives to leverage AI for economic growth, sustainable development, and enhanced community well-being.
Key Figures and Event: Saqr Binghalib, Executive Director of the UAE’s AI Office, and Seong H. Cho, President of Samsung Electronics MENA, formalized the partnership at the “AI Retreat 2024” organized by the Dubai Center for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) in collaboration with the National Program for Artificial Intelligence.
Strategic Goals: Saqr Binghalib emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving the UAE’s vision to become a global AI hub. The collaboration aims to integrate advanced technical expertise with AI innovations to meet national strategies and empower future AI pioneers.
Samsung’s Vision: DooHee Lee, President of Samsung Gulf Electronics, highlighted Samsung’s commitment to using technology and AI for societal benefit. The partnership with the UAE Office of AI aims to support the UAE’s AI vision, promote AI adoption in government, nurture local talent, and demonstrate AI’s transformative potential.
Youth-Focused Initiatives: The MOU includes joint initiatives to promote AI education among youth. Samsung’s Innovation Campus (SIC) CSR program will be integrated into the UAE’s AI Summer Camp 2024. Additionally, the Galaxy AI Pioneers program will train youth in AI, offering a month-long course for students aged 13-18. The curriculum covers essential AI concepts, including deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and AI robotics, through a hybrid online and onsite format. Participants will develop AI applications and receive certification from the UAE Office of AI upon completion.
Samsung Innovation Campus: This global program provides ICT education in AI, IoT, Big Data, Coding, and Programming, along with soft skills training to equip youth with the competencies needed to shape future societies.
By fostering AI education and development among youth, the UAE AI Office and Samsung are paving the way for a tech-savvy future, driving innovation, and positioning the UAE as a leader in artificial intelligence.
