President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has welcomed a new framework statement that strengthens cooperation between the UAE and the US in artificial intelligence (AI) and related technologies.
The “Common Principles for Cooperation on AI” was officially endorsed by His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser, alongside Jake Sullivan, US National Security Advisor, at the White House. This followed a meeting between His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and US President Joe Biden.
The statement highlights both nations’ shared commitment to fostering deeper ties in AI, recognizing its potential to drive economic growth, transform education and healthcare, create jobs, and support environmental sustainability.
The statement outlines joint efforts to advance safe, secure, and trustworthy AI, align regulatory frameworks to boost innovation, promote ethical AI research and development, enhance cooperation in AI security and cybersecurity, create opportunities for trusted trade and investment, foster talent exchange, promote clean energy for AI’s future, and support AI-driven sustainable development in developing countries.
