His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended part of the ‘Artificial Intelligence Retreat’ on Day 0 of the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2024, held in Abu Dhabi.
During the retreat, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the UAE’s commitment to advancing its leadership in Artificial Intelligence (AI). “The UAE has firmly established itself among the world’s most future-focused nations, securing a prominent position in AI advancements that will transform all sectors,” he said. “We are dedicated to reinforcing this leadership by building capabilities through enhanced infrastructure, data preparedness, and legislative frameworks, while intensifying the training and development of our national workforce, which is the backbone of our nation’s future.”
His Highness highlighted the UAE’s strategic foresight and planning as key drivers behind its achievements in AI. “We are among the best-prepared nations to seize opportunities in this sector, leveraging advancements to improve quality of life and accelerate economic growth. With our resources and a globally competitive talent pool, our ambitions are boundless in pioneering future trends in this sector,” he added.
Sheikh Mohammed also commended national entities for their contributions to the success of the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy, praising the retreat for uniting diverse entities to share insights and align plans to enhance achievements in AI.
Several dignitaries joined Sheikh Mohammed at the retreat, including His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai; and Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
The meeting, chaired by Sheikh Mohammed, brought together over 500 officials from federal and local government entities, the private sector, and community institutions, including Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and His Excellency Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications.
