The UAE will host the International Moon Day Conference in Abu Dhabi in 2025, showcasing its growing prominence in space exploration and innovation. The announcement coincided with the UAE’s 53rd Eid Al Etihad celebrations and took place during Space Week in Luxembourg, a global event that unites space experts, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and enthusiasts to discuss advancements in space science and exploration.

The UAE delegation, led by Dr. Salem bin Abdullah Al Wahshi, CEO of the Emirates Council for Work Relations Development, played a pivotal role in the announcement. The confirmation came during a session chaired by Dr. Nasr Al-Sahhaf, Chair of the United Nations International Moon Day.

World Space Week, established by UN General Assembly Resolution 54/68 in 1999, is the largest global celebration of space science and technology. It highlights the contributions of space exploration to humanity, inspires future generations, fosters international collaboration, and supports public education. In 2018, over 5,000 events were held across 80 countries under its banner.

Each year, the World Space Week Association selects a global theme to unify participants and maximize the impact of space initiatives worldwide. By hosting the International Moon Day Conference, the UAE solidifies its commitment to advancing space exploration and contributing to global efforts in the field.
