UiPath (NYSE: PATH), an enterprise automation and AI company, has announced a groundbreaking direction in enterprise automation with its new focus on agentic automation. Known for pioneering robotic process automation (RPA), UiPath is advancing its technology to integrate AI agents with robots, allowing automation of complex processes across industries, creating a new dimension of adaptability, customization, and efficiency for businesses.

Agentic automation redefines traditional automation by combining agents with robots to execute both repetitive and dynamic tasks. Robots handle rule-based tasks to improve efficiency, while agents make real-time decisions for adaptive, complex processes, enabling unprecedented levels of automation and empowering employees to focus on higher-value work. As UiPath Founder and CEO Daniel Dines states, “Agentic automation is the natural evolution of RPA, helping customers automate entire end-to-end processes, delivering greater productivity and meaningful outcomes.”

To support this evolution, UiPath has introduced the Agent Builder™ tool, a new feature that enables developers and business users to design, evaluate, and deploy agents within the UiPath automation platform. As part of the UiPath Studio family, Agent Builder provides users the flexibility to create agents from scratch or modify templates from the UiPath Agent Catalog. Available for preview in December 2024, Agent Builder is a low-code environment designed to simplify automation development, making advanced use cases more accessible and cost-effective.

Agentic automation orchestrates robots, agents, and human inputs within complex workflows, ensuring compliance and achieving predictable outcomes, even when integrating adaptable models. UiPath’s agentic orchestration capabilities enable businesses to manage the complete automation lifecycle, from modeling to monitoring, allowing seamless collaboration between AI agents, robots, and human oversight.

UiPath also announced “Autopilot for everyone,” a GenAI-driven conversational agent that enhances productivity for all employees, regardless of technical expertise. By harnessing UiPath’s automation ecosystem, Autopilot enables employees to perform complex tasks through a conversational interface, including document analysis and automation within applications. Autopilot is built with UiPath’s AI Trust Layer for secure governance, and it’s available across Windows and Mac platforms.

Graham Sheldon, UiPath’s Chief Product Officer, highlighted the value of these advancements, stating, “Agents unlock complex scenarios for our customers, making automation more accessible. By enabling users to create specialized agents effortlessly, we’re helping businesses avoid costs and stay competitive.”
