On International Women’s Day this year, we spoke with Maya Horowitz, VP Research at Check Point Software, about her career path, journey as a woman in the IT industry, and much more. Have fun reading her crisp responses to the 9 questions we asked her.
Maya: The fun thing about technology is that it constantly and rapidly advances. The cyber business takes it to the extreme, as threat actors’ sole goal is throwing new challenges at us as security researchers. So it keeps it interesting and keeps the mind sharp.
Maya: By building a support group – those who are always there for me, and give me advice, proportion and cookies.
Maya: A diverse workforce leads to diverse opinions and methods, leading to more well-thought conclusions.
Maya: Serena Williams, the greatest tennis player of all times, who isn’t afraid to be herself.
Maya: Getting to the truth. As cyber researchers, our work is to uncover new evidence that help the security community build the picture of the threat landscape, and I am moved by revealing new pieces that help build this puzzle.
Maya: I rely on my professional and passionate team from whom I can learn so much!
Maya: “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” – Albus Dumbledore
Maya: My sports watch that pushes me to run and train 6-7 times a week. Love collecting these useless badges.
Maya: A passion for the profession which gives motivation to others, and the empathy to see how to lead each individual in a way that best suits her or him. My advice is that do whatever it is that makes you smile.
