After a 12-year stint as YouTube’s Chief Business Officer, Robert Kyncl is leaving the company. He wrote on Twitter, “YouTube is a great place to be, and a great place to be from!” After 12 incredible years,  I’ve decided to move on to the next challenge soon. Working alongside creators, artists, media and music companies to transform media has been a privilege.”

“@rkyncl, we owe so much of our growth and impact to your leadership!” said YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki in a Twitter post. I’m delighted to welcome Mary Ellen Coe as YT’s new CBO. Mary Ellen’s career at Google has been dedicated to making partners more successful and I know she’ll do the same for creators, partners and users @YouTube!”

As the post thanked Robert Kyncl, it also made the announcement of Mary Ellen Coe, President of Global Customer Solutions at Google, will be the one to take the responsibility and the post of Chief Business Officer at YouTube.

In a memo, Wojcicki writes that Kyncl is leaving to begin the next stage of his career, as first reported by Variety.com. She continued by saying that under his direction, YouTube developed new connections and alliances with the creator ecosystem, traditional media, and digital companies. Without Kyncl, the term “YouTuber” wouldn’t be widely used, claims Wojcicki.

Mary Ellen Coe will start as YouTube’s Chief Business Officer on October 3. Prior to that, she spent a decade at Google, most recently as the president of Google Customer Solutions. Prior to Google, she was a partner at McKinsey & Co. for 12 years, advising consumer, media, and technology companies. She also serves on the board of Merck & Co. and was on the board of directors of Whole Foods when Amazon purchased the grocery retailer.
