The BMW Group achieved a historic milestone in 2023, delivering a record-breaking total of 2,555,341 BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce vehicles to customers, marking a remarkable increase of 6.5%. This outstanding performance extended to all major brands within the group, including BMW, Rolls-Royce, and BMW Motorrad, each setting new records. In the fourth quarter alone, BMW Group’s sales surged to 718,778 units, demonstrating a substantial growth of 10.3% compared to the previous year.

Jochen Goller, a member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, attributed this success to the close collaboration with retail partners and the commendable efforts of the associates. He emphasized the global appreciation for BMW, MINI, Motorrad, and Rolls-Royce brands, highlighting the diverse range of drive technologies across the product lineup. Goller noted, “In 2023, we achieved our goal of 15% of total sales coming from fully-electric vehicles, thanks to our attractive and technologically advanced new vehicles.”

The BMW Group’s commitment to electromobility was evident in its strong team effort, resulting in a substantial increase in worldwide deliveries of fully-electric products, reaching 376,183 units in 2023—a remarkable year-on-year growth of 74.4%. Goller expressed confidence in maintaining this growth trajectory in 2024, with a comprehensive lineup of 18 fully-electric models across all main segments. The goal is to have one in every five newly delivered vehicles with a fully-electric drivetrain in 2024, increasing to one in four by 2025.

BMW brand once again tops global premium segment in 2023

The BMW brand maintained its leadership in the global premium segment, achieving a record-high of 2,253,835 vehicles delivered in 2023, reflecting a growth of 7.3% from the previous year. Fully-electric BMW vehicles, especially the BMW iX1 and BMW i4, contributed significantly to this success, with a notable increase in demand. The BMW Group now offers a fully-electric option in each of its main segments.

BMW M GmbH grows sales significantly to reach new milestone

BMW M GmbH marked a historic milestone by posting its best-ever result, selling 202,530 performance and high-performance cars in 2023, an impressive increase of 14.3% compared to the previous year. The success was attributed to the market launch of various high-performance models, including the fully-electric BMW i4 M50, showcasing the brand’s commitment to systematic transformation towards electromobility.

Strong BEV growth for MINI

The MINI brand experienced growth, selling a total of 295,474 vehicles in 2023, with fully-electric MINI models contributing to 15.3% of total sales. The introduction of new fully-electric models, including the MINI Countryman SE and MINI Countryman E, is anticipated to further strengthen MINI’s position in the market.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars celebrated a historic year with record-breaking sales of 6,032 cars in 2023, driven by strong global demand and bespoke orders. The introduction of the fully-electric Rolls-Royce Spectre marked a significant milestone, with deliveries beginning as planned in the fourth quarter.

BMW Motorrad crowns centenary year with highest sales in its history

BMW Motorrad marked its centenary year with the highest-ever sales, delivering 209,257 motorcycles and scooters, reflecting a 3.1% increase year-on-year. The success was attributed to strong sales in Europe, Asia, North and Latin America, along with the introduction of popular new models.

BMW & MINI sales in the regions/markets

Sales performance in key regions demonstrated impressive growth, with a 9.4% increase in the US, 7.5% in Europe, 4.2% in China, and significant registrations in Germany, totaling 281,986 BMW and MINI vehicles. The BMW Group remains optimistic about sustaining its growth trajectory in the coming years, driven by a commitment to innovation and excellence in the automotive industry.
