Dubai Internet City, a flagship business district of TECOM Group PJSC, proudly commemorates its 25th anniversary as a pioneering hub that unites global tech industry leaders and talent. Launched on October 29, 1999, by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the district was established to leverage emerging technologies and strengthen the UAE’s knowledge economy.
In a notable recognition, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation has designated October 29 as World Coding Day, honoring the day Dubai Internet City was unveiled. Over the years, the district has empowered global technologists to drive socioeconomic transformation, establishing a vibrant ecosystem that includes multinational corporations, start-ups, and Fortune 500 companies.
As of 2024, customer numbers at Dubai Internet City have surged by over 17.5% in the first nine months, bringing the total to more than 4,000 businesses compared to the same period in 2023. The community of tech professionals has also expanded significantly, now exceeding 31,000 individuals, highlighting the city’s allure for global technologists.
“Driven by the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Internet City has been the launchpad for generations of tech pioneers and the epicenter of the regional digital economy since 1999,” stated Ammar Al Malik, Executive Vice President of Commercial at TECOM Group and Managing Director of Dubai Internet City.

The district serves as the regional headquarters for industry leaders across fintech, blockchain, AI, and Web3, hosting a diverse array of Fortune 500 companies spanning software, cloud services, social networks, and gaming, as well as electronics giants.
Strengthened by 19 innovation and research and development (R&D) centers operated by global leaders, Dubai Internet City is dedicated to fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cutting-edge advancements. Recent investments exceeding AED 1.9 billion have focused on premium office spaces, such as Office Park and the ongoing expansion of the Innovation Hub, reaffirming the district’s commitment to addressing the evolving needs of global tech companies.
Launched in 2018, Phase 1 of the Innovation Hub is now fully occupied, hosting industry leaders like Gartner and China Telecom. Phases 2 and 3, representing an investment of over AED 780 million, will introduce more than 530,000 sq.ft. of premium spaces to the district, with Phase 2 fully leased ahead of its expected completion in 2025.
