Abu Dhabi Shines in Data and AI at GITEX Global 2023

The Abu Dhabi Government has been actively unveiling a series of projects and initiatives at GITEX Global 2023. Notable launches and announcements have taken place at the Abu Dhabi Government pavilion, including the Department of Municipalities and Transport’s introduction of the Smart AI Vehicle Inspection. Additionally, the Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi presented the ‘Unlocking the Potential of Data for the Greater Good’ initiative and the release of Insights and Foresights Platform (IFP 2.0), while the Department of Energy initiated the third phase of its groundbreaking heatmap project, focusing on water and electricity consumption measurement in buildings using 3D techniques.

These entities showcased their innovative contributions to advance Abu Dhabi’s digital future, reaffirming the government’s position as a leader in AI and data-driven progress.

The ‘Unlocking the Potential of Data for the Greater Good’ project by the Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi aims to develop advanced technological solutions for a unified virtual database. This database enhances data governance and integration in a secure environment, allowing government decision-makers and the business community to access data from various sectors, fostering data-driven decision-making. This project also ensures data confidentiality, utilizes AI for analysis, and provides reliable insights while enhancing data quality.

Furthermore, the launch of Insights and Foresights Platform (IFP 2.0) offers advanced features, including statistical comparisons and geospatial data-based analytical reports. The platform leverages AI for timely forecasts and nowcasts, providing proactive insights into Abu Dhabi’s economic and social landscapes.

His Excellency Abdullah Gharib Al Qemzi, Acting Director General of Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi, emphasized the project’s importance in achieving data-driven excellence and responsible data use.

The Smart AI Vehicle Inspection project by the Department of Municipalities and Transport utilizes AI and advanced technologies for comprehensive vehicle inspections, enhancing safety and regulatory compliance.

The Department of Energy introduced the third phase of its 3D energy and water use intensity heatmap, reducing human intervention while providing comprehensive data for numerous buildings and visual data for millions of monthly readings.

His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Energy, highlighted the project’s role in improving energy efficiency.

Other notable showcases included the Department of Health’s ‘Unlocking Better Healthcare’ project, the Family Development Foundation’s Digital Social Observer system, and the Digital Integration initiative. The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority launched its ‘Enhancing Customer Experience’ initiative, while the Abu Dhabi Chamber presented Chamber ChatGPT, an AI tool for natural and intuitive interaction with the Chamber’s platform.

Overall, the Abu Dhabi Government pavilion, led by the Department of Government Enablement (DGE), has displayed around 20 projects and signed nearly 30 MoUs at GITEX Global. This continued presence underscores the government’s commitment to innovation and technological progress, building on past successes to drive the future of technological advancement.
