Acer has announced an expansion of its developer tools for SpatialLabs™ technology, aiming to support the creation of glasses-free, stereoscopic 3D experiences on Acer SpatialLabs Pro devices. The company has introduced a Unity plug-in, allowing developers from various industries to utilize SpatialLabs Pro devices for creating stereo 3D content and applications. In addition, Acer’s OpenXR runtime for SpatialLabs has received certification, enabling developers to use OpenXR protocols when building stereo 3D content and applications on SpatialLabs’ commercial displays. Furthermore, the Acer SteamVR Bridge has been introduced to enhance immersive experiences for VR application developers using SpatialLabs Pro devices.

The Pro Suite Developer Program now includes a Unity plug-in, expanding Acer’s support to professionals in fields such as education, architecture, construction, and medicine. By leveraging the Unity plug-in’s existing tools and verticals, developers can enhance their experiences and present their models in true 3D form on Acer SpatialLabs Pro devices, without requiring specialized glasses.

Acer has achieved conformance for its OpenXR Runtime, making SpatialLabs Pro devices compatible with OpenXR standards. As a longstanding member and contributor to the Khronos OpenXR working group, Acer is committed to building an accessible ecosystem for its hardware solutions. This milestone benefits the extended reality (XR) developer community by offering more device options to showcase high-resolution, glasses-free stereoscopic 3D creations. The synergy between OpenXR’s cross-platform API and Acer’s expertise in delivering immersive 3D visuals through SpatialLabs enables faster innovation for content and application creators. The OpenXR runtime is also available for Acer SpatialLabs Pro device users to utilize OpenXR-compatible applications like Autodesk VRED and Blender.

Acer’s proprietary SteamVR Bridge driver is now accessible, enabling developers of VR applications to convert their creations on Acer’s SpatialLabs Pro devices and deliver captivating imagery and clarity to users without the need for VR headsets. By using the Acer SteamVR Bridge in conjunction with NVIDIA Omniverse™, SpatialLabs Pro device users can streamline workflows and expand their viewing options for enhanced stereo 3D projection of complex graphics, visual effects, and simulations.
