Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports, a pioneering initiative at the forefront of esports and education, has joined forces with Deliveroo, the acclaimed delivery service, to announce a groundbreaking collaboration. This strategic partnership aims to elevate the realms of gaming and education in the UAE.

Since its inception in the UAE, Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports has experienced remarkable growth in player and team numbers, participating universities, and the organization of competitions and events. It has emerged as a leading player in the esports domain in the region. The project is actively expanding across 26 countries on four continents and is hosted in the region by MENA Tech Entertainment, a subsidiary of GGTech Entertainment.

Deliveroo, the prominent British fast-food delivery company, has established a significant presence and witnessed substantial growth in the UAE. Operating in nine additional countries and over 500 cities further underscores its global footprint.

This collaboration signifies a crucial step in bridging the gap between esports and education, offering students unique opportunities to pursue their passion for gaming while striving for academic excellence. Both Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports and Deliveroo share a common goal of engaging with the local community. Through diverse initiatives, such as esports tournaments and educational events, they aim to create a vibrant and inclusive space for gamers and learners.

As part of this collaboration, Deliveroo will contribute to the digital innovation initiatives of Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports, ensuring that students have access to cutting-edge technology and resources to enhance their esports skills.

In 2023, the MENA region stands as the world’s fastest-growing domestic gaming market, boasting a base of over 377 million gamers. Globally, the total number of gamers reaches an impressive 3.24 billion. According to the Statista Global Consumer Survey, the UAE leads the world with the highest percentage of adult gamers, with nine out of ten actively participating.

Underscoring its commitment to the gaming industry, the UAE is directing significant investment through initiatives like ‘Abu Dhabi Gaming,’ launched just last year. This strategic endeavor aims to nurture regional gaming talent and establish the country as a year-round hub for gaming events.
