Apple iPhone 13 is less than a week away: What You Need to Know

Be prepared! On Sept. 14, Apple will unveil its iPhone 13. In order to avoid spreading the disease, the iPhone 13 event will be an online-only affair, similar to last year’s announcement of the iPhone 12. Despite the virtual nature of the event, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts four new versions of the iPhone 13: the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13 Pro, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

There isn’t much expected in the way of design changes, and the 2021 iPhone will have the same feature set as the 2020 iPhones. Instead, we can expect a new 5G chip from Qualcomm, improved battery life, and a tweak to the notch size. One early rumor indicated that at least one iPhone in 2021 would be entirely wirelessly charged. We won’t see it this year.

As of now, Apple will continue to use Lightning for a long time without switching to USB-C, and the company will not offer portless designs until MagSafe accessories become more common. It is possible that a portable iPhone will appear by 2022. Apple should be able to shrink down the Face ID hardware to create a smaller notch on the front of the iPhone.

There will be no other noticeable changes to the front of the iPhone other than the smaller notch. For the first time, Apple will bring the iPad Pro’s ProMotion technology to the iPhone, bringing 120Hz display refresh rates. As for the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s camera improvements, rumors indicate it will extend to other models with a larger sensor and the sensor-shift stabilization feature for improved autofocus and stabilization across the lineup. The “Pro” iPhone 13 models are rumored to have improvements to the Ultra Wide lenses, including better low-light performance and improved autofocus.

In some rumors, iPhone 13 models could feature a 1TB storage capacity, an increase from the iPhone 12’s maximum capacity of 512GB. A reliable source hasn’t yet confirmed this, so we’ll need to wait to see if it ends up being true. Apple’s iPhone 13 models will be equipped with a 5-nanometer A15 chip, which will enhance speed and efficiency, along with Qualcomm’s X60 modem, which will offer better 5G connectivity. With WiFi 6E, connectivity will also be improved.

So with all the information, we have what are the changes and rumors about the iPhone 13 models:

  • 4 sizes
  • Design with a smaller notch
  • 120Hz ProMotion display
  • Optimisation of cameras
  • A15 Chip
  • 5G
  • No USB-C
  • No Touch ID
  • Battery sizes larger
  • Maybe a 1TB storage

The iPhone 12 feels like it was only released yesterday, but the iPhone 13 may be here in less than a week. I’m hoping it will include improvements that users have been requesting for years.
