Cisco AppDynamics has announced significant updates to AppDynamics Cloud, its cloud-native observability solution. Business transaction insights combines business transaction monitoring with the continuous-context experience of AppDynamics Cloud. This enables organizations to broaden observability across cloud-native applications linked to business context across their Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment and beyond. The AIOps-derived insights enable teams to observe applications in the same way that customers and end users do, and to take action in near real-time to optimize performance and remediate issues.

Initially, the new capabilities will support digital services, cloud-native applications, and Amazon Web Services workloads. On their journey to full-stack observability, Cisco AppDynamics and AWS continue to empower organizations across the entire IT estate.

“With AppDynamics Cloud, we are reimagining the cloud-native observability market,” said Ronak Desai, SVP/GM Cisco AppDynamics and Cisco Full-Stack Observability. “Cisco AppDynamics is enabling visibility of an organization’s entire cloud-native landscape and generating insights based on an intelligent relationship model. With the addition of business transaction insights to AppDynamics Cloud, IT teams can now act with the information needed to make business-critical decisions and break down the new siloes that exist across their cloud-native monitoring landscapes. We are helping customers realize the vision of Cisco Full-Stack Observability and bringing genuine visibility, insight, and actions to their entire IT environment.”

Modern cloud-native applications can be highly distributed and complex. Ops teams are frequently forced to rely on siloed, domain-specific tools to collect and interpret massive amounts of data generated by their technology stack during normal operations. As a result, they may struggle to provide dependable digital experiences for end-user customers because they lack the correlated insights to identify how critical issues impact business outcomes.

Teams can use business transaction insights to leverage multiple streams of data from OpenTelemetry and Amazon CloudWatch, all of which are correlated to business context, and then optimize digital experiences at scale. They generate AIOps-driven alerts that enable teams to identify, prioritize, and resolve the most critical issues that may have an impact on the user experience and the overall business.

According to a Cisco AppDynamics survey of 1,150 IT professionals, 71% believe their organization will need to allocate resources to cloud-native application and infrastructure observability. This new capability in AppDynamics Cloud provides technologists with the simplicity and insights they need to streamline operations, increase the business value of AWS products and services, and maximize current and future investments in areas such as Kubernetes®, microservices, and other AWS infrastructure.

“As organizations move their business to the cloud, it is critical to use solutions that enable them to understand their cloud environment and quickly identify meaningful data to optimize the customer experience,” said Chris Grusz, General Manager of Worldwide ISV Alliances and AWS Marketplace, AWS. “With the introduction of business transaction insights for AppDynamics Cloud, customers can confidently evolve modern applications while taking better advantage of the agility, scalability and innovative cloud services that AWS provides.”
